Schnauzer Gigante

HEALTH...

To lessen your chances of having a giant schnauzer with health or behavioral issues, refrain from purchasing it from a pet store or online. For its part, responsible kennels strive to have few litters of schnauzer and only healthy dogs that meet the breed standard. The giant schnauzer is susceptible to diseases including: hip dysplasia, or CHD. CHD is an inherited bone disease that usually affects large breed dogs. Since it is an abnormality of the joints, it causes discomfort, pain, lameness and lethargy. Surgery is an option.

If you get your giant schnauzer from a hatchery, make sure you've received the necessary tests to rule out possible illnesses. A responsible breeder will give you the results of their exams and a pedigree certificate.
